QWP struggling to change status quo for Pakhtuns’ future: Sherpao

PESHAWAR -  Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that QWP is struggling to change the status quo and bring about a glorious future for the Pukhtuns.

Sherpao added that the unity of Pukhtuns will not only be a harbinger of change in their lives but it would also strengthen the federation of Pakistan.

He said that the Pukhtuns positively contributed towards the progress of the country and if they got united it would further boost up their energies to play vital role in the mainstream.

He was addressing a delegation of QWP Baluchistan chapter here at Watan Kor Peshawar on Sunday.

The delegation was led by leader Samiullah Luni. The delegation apprised the party chairman about the organizational matters and issues pertaining to Pukhtuns in Baluchistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Aftab Sherpao expressed satisfaction over the party organization process in Baluchistan and appreciated the formation of organizations in 12 districts of Baluchistan.

He said that if pace of work was continued with such spirit, the QWP would become an effective political force in the southern Pakhtunkhwa.

Expressing grave concerns over the plight of Puhkhtuns, Sherpao said that the Pukhtuns had been facing great problems because they were ignored in the past.

He continued that some elements only made lip services towards Pukhtuns and no practical measures had been adopted in this regard.

He dubbed such elements as the representatives of status quo which was aimed at putting the Pukhtuns in constant problems. He contended that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has provided an ample opportunity for the socio-economic uplift of southern Pukhtuns which would not only enhance their living standard but it would also provide better social status in the society.

He viewed that if this opportunity was not properly utilized then the southern Pukhtuns would be deprived of greater economic leverage.

He vowed that QWP would utilize its all energies to ensure maximum benefits for the Pukhtuns in this mega project.

He said that other political parties had miserably failed to work for the betterment of southern Pukhtunkhwa, which resulted in acute sense of deprivation and it has provided political space to QWP to fill the vacuum.

He said that QWP was a democratic and nationalist party which was basically perusing the cherished cause for the unity, prosperity and effective roles of Pukhtuns in the federation of Pakistan.

He called upon the Pukhtuns to get united under the banner of the QWP so as concerted efforts should be accelerated for this noble objective.

On the occasion, QWP provincial Chairman and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, General Secretary, Hashim Babar, party leaders Jamil Marghuz, Asad Afridi, Tariq Ahmad Khan, Kifayat Khan, Nisar Khan, Aman Bazai and Jalil Mardanzai were also present.
