LAHORE - The full-fledged drive to evict cattle from the limits of City and remove illegal sale points regarding sacrificial animals is in full swing. The operation will be completed before Eidul Azha. The CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has issued strict directions to DCO, Chairman Task Force and all the TMOs to complete the action in a befitting manner. With a view to check the emergence of illegal sale points, City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has designated many sale points for sacrificial animals including Bund Road Shahdara, Sabzazaar, Jallo, Baghbanpura, Chungi Amar Sadhu, Mutlan Road, Bhati Chowk, Badami Bagh, Sanda, Karim Park, Ravi Road, Shadbagh and Baboo Sabu. The number of sale points has been reduced. Some years ago, authority concerned had designated 27 points including Bund Road, Manawan, Jharna, Chungi Amer Saddu, Peco Road, Kotha Pind, Qadri Ground Green Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Harbanspura, Ghaziabad, Walton, Baidian, Match Factory, Service Road Shahdara, Scheme Number-2 Shadbagh, Tajpura, W-Z Studio, Mustafa Town, Wahdat Road, Lahore University Raiwind, Liaquat Chowk Sabzazaar, Bakra Mandi, College Road Johar Town, Shera Kot, Saggian Bridge and Mayo Garden Allama Iqbal. The authority concerned has started driving out the cattle. Three special squads are rotating the drive in different sectors including sector-1 comprising Data Gunj Bakhsh Town, Shalimar Town and Ravi Town. Sector-II includes Gulberg Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Wagha Town and sector-III includes Samanadbad Town, Allama Iqbal Town and Nishtar Town. Three squads are carrying out the joint operation with the help of Frond End Loader, two dumpers, one truck and other technical apparatus. All the sale points have been made functional and CDGL officers have also been nominated for these points. They have set up their camp office on the site to streamline the process and monitor the whole situation. They are working with other relevant departments including SWM, live stock, police and traffic. TMO concerned have been ordered for the installation of tents and proper enclosures and providing lightning and water. The District Officer Live Stock is also providing vetenary health services. It may be recalled that government has exempted the sacrificial animals from tax. All the TMAs, TO (R), TO (F) would monitor the sale points. District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta said the operation would prove to be result-oriented. The operation was launched to safeguard the beauty of the city as encroachments regarding illegal sale points remain a major stigma on the fair face of the metropolis and a key obstacle in the resolution of many public problems including traffic, he added. Illegal sale points along roadsides, footpaths, bus stops, vital installations and parking space in commercial buildings will also be removed.
