SRINAGAR (PPI) - In Occupied Kashmir, the authorities imposed undeclared curfew, on Sunday, in the entire Valley except Kupwara district, where the polling drama for five constituencies was enacted. According to Kashmir Media Service, the Jammu and Kashmir Coordination. Committee had given a call for a march towards Kupwara town on the occasion. The occupation authorities continued to keep the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, Fazl Haq Qureshi and Mian Abdul Qayoom under house arrest to prevent them from leading the March. Meanwhile, hundreds of people including women took to streets and shouted anti-election slogans in Trehgam area of Kupwara district on the occasion of polling. The demonstration started soon after polling stations were opened in the area. Indian troops resorted to heavy lathi-charge and excessive tear-gassing to disperse the demonstrators injuring several people including two sisters of prominent martyred liberation leader, Maqbool Butt. Pitched battles between the troops and the demonstrators continued throughout the day.
