No tree chopped down in Zoo for extension: DG

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Director General Marghzar Zoo, Raja Muhammad Javed here on Sunday said that "Not a single tree has been chopped down for the extension of Zoo". He said that Capital Development Authority (CDA) was already working to make it more attractive for the public entertainment and increasing the number of plants and trees for providing natural environment to animals" he said this while talking to APP here on Sunday. He said the condition of the Zoo is very well due to proper maintenance by its staff and thousands of visitors especially school children visit daily. To a question, he said that birth and mortality are natural facotrs but unfortunately only mortality is highlighted here in a negative way. He said that many species of animals are breeding like Ostrich, Urial, Nil Gai (Blue Bull), Hong Deer,Pheasants and Peafowls and more than 175 births of different animals took place in the zoo only in three years. Two veterinarians deputed on permanent basis to look-after the animals and many veterinary facilities are available in the zoo, he said. Keeping the Zoo 'clean and neat' is priority of its administration which has been appreciated by visitors many times.
