RAWALPINDI - Addltional IG and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani paid a surprise visit to Police Station (PS) RA Bazaar and placed six Sub Inspectors (SIs), Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) and 13 Constables under suspension on the charge of negligence and poor performance here on Sunday. According to details, RPO Nasir Khan Durrani visited the PS RA Bazaar and reviewed the performance of the local police. Later on SDPO Cantt Raja Abdul Hafeez and SSP Operation Sardar Muhammad Maqsood also came to the PS after getting the information of the visit of RPO. During inspection Addl IG observed that in number of narcotics and illicit arms cases the case property had not been deposited in the Malkhana. On this RPO has appointed DSP investigation Sultan Mehmood Chadhar to hold an enquiry and to submit his report early. It was also noted that in a number of hurt cases the crime weapons were not recovered due to which the prosecution cases were weakened. This matter was also assigned to DSP Investigation for enquiry. On the perusal of the working of police officers posted in PS, it was observed that performance of number of officers was not satisfactory and was much below the minimum acceptable level. On this Nasir Khan Durrani has placed SI Hasnat Ahmed, SI Muhammad Riaz, ASI Khalid Mehmood, ASl Bostan Khan, ASI Khurram Shehzad and ASI Mazhar Iqbal under suspension and also directed them to report to police lines immediately. SSP Operation has been directed to initiate disciplinary action against them and to finalize the proceedings within 2-week. However working of one SI Muhammad Akram was found to be appreciable and has been awarded CC-II and cash reward of Rs 1000. RPO also showed his displeasure over the working of SHO. Since the SHO has recently been posted, therefore he was given 2 months time to improve the state of affairs of the PS. During checking 13 Constables were found absent on which they have been placed under suspension and SP/HQRs has been asked to initiate departmental action against them. SSP Operation Sardar Maqsood was also directed to hold meeting of all Upper Subordinates and to regularly review their performance. Addl IG and RPO Nasir Khan Durrani also asked him to work out a proper strategy for the arrest of Proclaimed Offenders (POs). In this regard the immoveable property of POs should be got attached and auctioned after observing due legal formalities. Meanwhile, as the Eid-ul-Aza is approaching fast and a number of residents of twin cities of Rawlpindi and Islamabad have started leaving for their respective hometowns to celebrate the Eid with their dearones but the transporters are fleecing the general public by overcharging them. The passengers are also complaining that the transporters are creating artificial shortage of the vehicles for overcharging the public. This situation is creating scenes at the bus stands and some times exchange of hot words between"The government has already issued warning to transporters against overcharging and this action should be implemented in its letter and spirit", a commuter from Peshawar Aslam Khan told this agency . Travelers were also complaining against overcharging by transporters more than three times against normal fares, the inter-city buses and vans also shown extraordinary surge in fares as the passengers want to reach their hometown before Eid. Naqib Ullah, a passenger leaving for Multan , said that the transporters don't park their vehicles on Bus Stands just to blackmail the passengers.
