PESHAWAR (Agencies) - Elders of North Waziristan tribal district on Sunday offered the Pakistani government complete support if tensions spill over into fighting with India and urged it to halt ongoing military operations against Taliban militants. "We can send one million armed tribal figthers to the eastern border with India, while the remaining two million can guard the western frontier (with Afghanistan)," tribal elder Malik Mohammad Afzal said in a joint Press conference with other local chiefs in Miranshah, main town of North Waziristan. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, an umbrella group of Taliban militants, also offered unconditional support to the Pakistani government if hostilities break out with India. "If India attacked any part of Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan will put aside all its differences with the government and would not hesitate to give any kind of sacrifice to defend the frontiers," deputy leader Maulana Faqir Mohammad told reporters in Khar. Khar is the main town of Bajaur tribal district, where a major Pakistani military operation against Al-Qaeda linked militants has killed more than 1,500 militants since August. Local tribesman, while condemning the blame game by India against Pakistan, have urged the government to shift the army from tribal belt and fully concentrate on eastern border of the country. Tribal elders, elite and Maliks assured the government of full protection of western borders of the country by three million tribesmen. "Govt should rely on tribesmen over protection of western borders and give them a chance to fight any one daring to cross border with nefarious designs", the tribesmen added. Those who addressed the Press conference included Malik Muhammad Afzal Khan Darpakhel, Malik Gul Akbar Khan, Malik Habibullah, Malik Haji Hazratullah, Malik Qismat Khan Kabulkhel, Malik Usman and Malik Abdul Qadir. The tribesmen slammed India for putting the blame of Mumbai carnage on Pakistan without showing any solid evidence. They said it seemed that a conspiracy has been hatched for blaming Pakistan and its people. The tribesmen warned India and all those elements trying to destabilise Pakistan that any adventure would meet strong resistance by Pak Army and the valiant tribesmen. They also requested the government to stop operation in FATA and restore the confidence of tribal people on state.
