KARACHI: The Karachi City District Government (CDGK) and various town administrations successfully managed the removal and dispose off the offals and other waste of the sacrificial animals during the three days of Eidul Azha. The cleanliness, especially removal of offals is one of the biggest task of the civic administrations and they all concentrated this task and tried to each and every offal to be dispose off. From past few years a race between all the town administration of metropolis is being observed that they counted the number of offalss of sacrificial animals lifted by their sweepers and other health department staffers and due to which a competition like situation is created among the towns administrations. On the last day of Eidul Azha on Monday, it is difficult to describe the exact figure of lifting offals by town administrations as the cleanliness drive would be conducted till late night and even on Tuesday and Wednesday, with sprinkling the lime stone on the roads and streets where animals had been scarified across the city. Till filling this report following town administrations informed the media that how many offals they had disposed off till Monday night. The Jamshed town administration claimed that they lifted and disposed off a record number of offals as the maximum number of animals were sacrificed in Jamshed town during the three days of Eidul Azha, they lifted 1,67663 offals in the town limits and disposed off scientifically. The Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town administration said that lifted more than 85,000 offals during the three days of Eid and City Nazim Mustafa Kamal along with Town Nazim Wasay Jalil and visited various UCs of the town and reviewed the cleanliness work. The Gulshan-e-Iqbal town spokesperson said that not only the offals had been removed timely but scientific dumping of the offals, sprinkling lime stones on that places where animals were scarified and other cleanliness work made assure on the same day. However, the Liaqatabad Town administration did not informed about the exact figure of the number of disposed off offals till filling this report but it is learnt that they had lifted and removed more than 1,10,000 offals, till the last day. The Saddar town lifted 72,000 offals and the Shah Faisal Town removed 70,000 offals, In Landhi town, more than 60,000 offals lifted and disposed off, In Lyari 33,000, offals disposed off while in the Baldia town, about 61,883 offals were removed from the town limits. The Korangi Town administration said that they had lifted and disposed off 47,374 offals from its town limits during the three days cleanliness. Some of the town administration proved lazy and failed to calculate the exact figures of the offals lifted by them on time and said that they would be able to send the exact figures of offals disposed off, next day. However, this is possibility that the towns administration exaggerated the number of the offals to show and highlight their performance but as far as the look of the city is concerned during the three days, there was no sign of offals, remains and waste of sacrificial animals at on open streets and roads in majority of the locallites according to the reports. Important, roads and streets, points and spots were sprinkled by lime powder to kill the germs and bacteria. It was reported that some parts of Gulberg town, presented the poor look of cleanliness and neither offals had been disposed off on time nor lime stone was sprinkled. It may be noted that MQMs head quarter popularly known as ( Nine Zero) situated in the same town limit. Bin Qasim town, Gadap town, Kemari town, and Orangi town administrations failed to inform the exact figures of lifting and disposing the offals till filling this report but it is also confirmed cleanliness drives was observed in all the said above towns and offals were disposing till night. Meanwhile City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the department concerned of the CDGK, all towns and union councils to change the lifting and disposal of offal operation into cleanliness campaign by using the same manpower, machinery and other resources so that the remaining effects of waste of the sacrificial animals could be removed completely. He said that the operation for the lifting of offal was still not completed and it will carry on till the full and thorough cleaning of the city. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of all staff and officers of city government, towns & union councils administration for taking part in the successful operation. He said that the concerned officials have played a dynamic role in the timely lifting and burial of offal and they did not go to their home till the disposal of all offal in the city. Nazim Karachi said that this year none of the offal was dumped at the landfill sites because the city government had already managed the burial of offal of all cantonments and areas controlled by other agencies. During the operation over 2,000 complaints were received at 1339 which has been resolved within ten minutes. He said that he himself with DCO Karachi spent all three days of Eidul Azha on roads and streets while overseeing the whole operation. All town nazims, union nazims and elected representatives performed excellently which had given best of results this year too. The City Nazim said that he also went to Lyari and other suburban and rural areas of the city during the operation and inspected the conditions in the katchi abadies. He said that special attention has been given to rural and backward areas, peoples are best judges, every town has been provided with necessary manpower, vehicles and machinery whenever it required. He also thanked citizens of Karachi for providing help and cooperation in the swift lifting and disposal of offal during all three days of Eidul Azha and said that operation was still not completed and will continue till the completion of cleaning work.
