ISLAMABAD (APP) - Vigilant cops of law enforcing agencies, while sacrificing their holidays, helped the citizens stay mentally peaceful and enjoy the Eid festival with religious fervor and enthusiasm. Federal Police administration ensured extra deployment of cops at all entry points, mosques, Imam Bargahs, and traffic signals of the Federal Capital to maintain law and order during the mega religious rituals and celebrations, it is learnt. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Bin Yameen informed APP that police utilised all available human resources including commandos and special branch officials. The Security Ring, which is usually limited to the ending point of Margalla road in west, was expanded to G-12 this time as overall 104 check posts were functioning during the Eid Holidays, he added. He said that at least five cops were deployed at every checkpost, and additionally, four men were directed to stay at traffic signals and randomly check the vehicles thereon. Besides, special branch beat was increased to 82 persons from the usual 15 cops on duty during such holidays. Meanwhile, with most VVIPs out of capital for Eid holidays, the free commandos and police escorts were also assigned patrolling and other security duties at sensitive spots, said the deputy Police chief. Replying to a question, he said that food supply to all cops on duty was ensured by the Police Lines administration while they would also be given random lieu off holidays after conclusion of special duty schedule. Likewise, Muhammad Naeem, PRO of the Federal Police said that strict measures were taken for overall security and control of crime rate during the Eid holidays. He informed that a strategy for an on-call-approach of police for assistance of citizens was devised, under which around half a dozen criminals were caught red handed. Those included Gulrez, Raiees, Shahzad, Hazrat, Rizwanullah and Lal Khan, from whom stolen items and illegal weapons were recovered.
