LAHORE – A group of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers staged a peaceful protest outside the Aiwan-i-Iqbal, the venue of a function held to mark its Foundation Day. Carrying placards, the protesting workers took a swipe at the leadership for overlooking the cause the PPP was established to give rise. They also criticised the leadership for letting the opportunists get into the party and forcing the diehard workers to say goodbye to it. They claimed that the leadership had started serving its own interests, causing split in the party and anxiety among the true workers. They banners they were holding spoke highly of PPP’s utter neglect of the rights of the poor and its failure to provide roti, kapra aur makan to the downtrodden as promised in its manifesto.
