Five Levies men hurt in twin blasts

KHYBER AGENCY - At least five Levies men got injured in two remote-controlled blasts in Shiekhwal area of tehsil Landi Kotal on Friday, official and local sources informed.
The Khasadar line officer of Landi Kotal Abbas Ali Shinwari was on routine patrolling on Pak-Afghan road when his vehicle was attacked with IED, planted by unknown militants on the roadside, however no casualty was reported, sources said. Soon after the incident, the levy force contingents rushed to the spot and were busy in collecting the evidences of the previous blast when another planted remote control explosive burst near them, sources said.
“I along with Levys force was inspecting the area when unexpected explosion took place, “Hawaldar Zia-ur-Rehman said. Five persons identified as Hawaldar Zia-ur-Rehman, Zermat Sher, Ghufran alias Imran, Fazleemullah and Mohammad Sher received splinters wounds, sources said.
They were shifted to agency headquarter hospital Landi kotal for treatment where their conditions were stated to be stable, hospital sources said. The vehicle was also destroyed in the explosion, sources said. The forces troops and Khasadar personnel have cordoned off the whole area and started investigation, sources said.
It is worth mentioning here that it is the third untoward incident that hit the Khasadar and levies forces in the area.
Later on, the banned Abul Azzam brigade claimed the responsibility of the twin blast in Landi kotal on Friday.
The brigade spokesperson Abu Zarar told on phone from undisclosed destination, that Khasadar and Levys personnel were found guilty of protecting Nato supply assignments and threatened that in future all the security troops providing protection to Nato line would meet the same fate.
