TOBA TEK SINGH - Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Waseem Akhtar has said that Jamaat wants impartial, free and fair general elections and all religious and political parties has complete confidence in Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim.

While addressing a press conference in JI office in Garden Town on Friday, Dr Waseem emphasised that the CEC should take notice of the pre-rigging in by election in shape of installation of big hoardings by the candidates, electrification of localities and launching of development schemes with government funds. The JI leader blamed MQM for getting deleted voters of opponents from Karachi and getting registered fake votes of those who reside in other provinces. He also welcomed the Lahore High Court decision regarding Kalabagh Dam and said the government should capitalise on the verdict and take into confidence to other provinces to build the long-delayed dam. Punjab JI Naib Ameer Azhar Iqbal Hassan, District Ameer Abdul Malik, Dr Zahid Sattar, Dr Maqbool Ahmad, Abdul Majid Mufti and Mian Wakeel Ahmad were also present on the occasion.

named: PPP Punjab President Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has appointed Rana Khalid Mahmood as PPP Toba City president and Ch Zeeshan Ahmad Randhawa as city general secretary, said a press release issued here. Meanwhile the founding day of PPP was observed here at a function which was presided by new city president.

On the occasion, speakers said that the party gave identity to downtrodden people of the country and still there was no other political party who could replace the PPP as its roots were everywhere in the country. They praised the policies of President Asif Ali Zardari who defeated all the conspiracies made against the party by the opponents.
