SAHIWAL - Mahar Khalid Usman Kathia, belong to eminent political family, along with his companions joined the PML-N. Critics see the development will pave the way for the victory of PML-N candidate for NA-162 Zahid Iqbal in the forth coming by-election.

Addressing a press conference, Khalid Usman recalled that his late grandfather Mahar Khan Muhammad Kathia had been elected MNA in 1946 from Montgomery District on Muslim League ticket, while his two Uncles Mahar Rehmat Ullah Kathia and Mahar riaz Hussain Kathia were elected MPAs in 1951 and 1993 respectively.

He said that his uncle former tehsil naib nazim Bashir Ahmad Kathia had also announced support for the PML-N candidate.

Others who also joined the PML-N included former UC nazim Raja Saeed Ahmad, Mahar Amin, Munawar Chohan, Mahr Sarfraz Kathia, former UC Harrapa naib nazim Malik Muhammad Yar Khokhar and Khawaja Noor Muhammad Sahoo and Makhdoom Syed Ali Raza Bukhari along with a large number of his disciples.

Allama Iqbal paid glowing tribute: Government Girls Degree College Harrapa held a function to pay tribute to Poet of East Allama Iqbal here the other day.

Director Colleges Dr Farkhand Shakeel Mehmood presided over the function. DO Colleges Qazi Abdul Nasir was also present on the occasion. Principal College Silwat Maqbool threw light on the philosophy and thoughts of Allama Iqbal. Paying tribute to Allama Iqbal, Dr Farkhand said that Iqbal's philosophy was a guide line for the youth and if they follow his principles they could change fate of this nation.

He said that Iqbal's poetry was universal and people from all corners of the globe were paying rich tribute to the great thinker.

On the occasion, students delivered speeches on the life and ideology of Allama Iqbal.
