KARACHI/HYDERABAD - A complete strike was observed Friday in the province on the call of Sindh Bachayo Committee (SBC) against the Sindh People’s Local Governments Act (SPLGA) 2012.In Karachi, However, the strike was only observed in the areas dominated by Sindhi speaking people, while business in other parts of the city went as usual. Transporters operated normally and markets remained opened in the city. But shops were closed and no traffic was seen in parts of the city where the strike was backed.The PML-N, PML-Q), PML-Likeminded, ANP, NPP, ST, JUI-F and PTI also supported the strike. Wheel-jammed was seen in interior Sindh, including Hyderabad, where markets, trading centres remained shut and transport was rare on roads.Clash between police and protesters were reported in Jamshoro district. Six people were reported to be injured in Shahpur Chakar when some unknown gunmen resorted to firing on a protest rally.Nationalist parties and the PML-F took out protest rallies in Thatta, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Hala, Matiari, Dadu, Sehwan, Mithi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Naukot, Naushehro Feroz, Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki, Kandhkot and Kashmore. Complete strike was observed in Hyderabad where the city came to a standstill.Commuters, particularly students and office-goers, faced trouble in reaching their destinations due to the absence of public transport.  Incidents of firing were also reported from various areas of the city, forcing the closure of shops and restaurants.In Sanghar, unknown gunmen attacked PML-F leader Pir Pagara Gulam Muhamad Anar when he was going with rally in his vehicle, leaving 12 people injured. The PML-F leader remained safe in the attack, but his son was reportedly injured.The PML-F was taking out a rally against the SPLGA. The media reported that the firing broke out when the protesters forced people to close the shops nearby the rally.Complete strike was also observed in Nawabshah, Daulatpur, Qazi Ahmed, Daur, Sakrand and Shahpur Jahania. People of Mirpur Khas also responded the strike call by suspending their everyday activities. A shutter-down strike was also scene in Shikarpur, Naushehro Feroz, Kandyaro, Moro, Bhirya, Mehrabpur, Ghotki, Dadu, Juhi, Mehar Kharpur and Natanshah and Kashmore.Lawyers are boycotting the courts in Khairpur.
