JHANG - The paramedics of all the state-run health facilities except the Emergency of DHQ Hospital went on strike and took out a rally on Saturday for their upgradation according to the rules and regulation of service structure issued by the government of Punjab in 2011.

The paramedical staff of district and tehsil hospitals, rural and basic health centres of Jhang except the Emergency of DHQ Hospital also staged a sit-in in DHQ Hospital in favour of their demands.

Addressing the gathering, Paramedics Association Jhang District President Ramzan said that at least in 20 districts of Punjab the district health departments had upgraded the paramedical staff according to the rules and regulation but the Jhang district health officer had not yet upgraded the paramedical staff. He said that the staff would not join their duties till the acceptance of their demands.

He also threatened that if their demands were not fulfilled, the sit-in would continue and all the paramedical staff including four class employees of Health Department would boycott the upcoming campaign against polio and measles. He said that the workers would not participate in those campaigns and the district administration would be responsible for the consequences.
