Reese Witherspoon has openly admitted she’s had less dignified moments in her life that lead her to where she is now.

The 38-year-old actress was arrested last year for driving under the influence, as well as disorderly conduct after disobeying the police officer who pulled her over. But she in fact appreciates the less dignified aspects of life that brought her to where she is today.

‘I’ve been divorced; I’ve had experiences I’ve felt embarrassed about,’ she admitted in an interview for America’s Glamour magazine. ‘But being able to see that they’re all part of the journey in my life that leads me to this moment now.’

Reese is currently starring in biopic Wild, based on the book Strayed by Cheryl Strayed. Cheryl, who famously hiked over a thousand miles, was responsible for conducting the interview. She asked the leading lady about what she values in life.

‘I am so, so lucky to have girlfriends who, when I was on the floor crying, upset about things that happened in my life, came over, stood me up, put me in the shower, put my clothes on, took my kids to school, brought me dinner,’ Reese explained. ‘You know? I love my girlfriends, and I protect those relationships fiercely.’ Among the awkward experiences she referenced, one of those was a crazy video documentation of her dancing around to Gloria Gaynor’s hit I Will Survive.

Reese confessed she’s chosen not to watch the video.

‘Was it hysterical?’ she asked Cheryl in jest. ‘Was it funny? I mean, are you laughing because you envy my dance moves?’ In the course of being honest, the Cruel Intentions star also revealed her affection for maintaining a pretend hair shade. She attributed her tendency to her Southern roots when asked whether or not she was a natural blonde. ‘Who knows! I haven’t seen my natural hair colour since I was 16. I’m Southern, honey. We don’t like our natural hair,’ Reese claimed.
