GUJRAT/MULTAN - Two terrorists of a banned outfit were killed in shootout with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Gujrat late the other night while three other were arrested during a separate operation in Multan.

According to CTD, the raid was carried out following a tip-off about presence of militants, affiliated with a banned organisation, planning terror attacks. The CTD spokesman informed that explosive material and arms were recovered from the dead terrorists.

As the CTD personnel began to besiege the hideout, the terrorists resorted to firing on them. In subsequent exchange of fire, two terror suspects were killed while three others managed to flee from the spot, taking advantage of darkness, said the CTD spokesperson in a statement.

Huge cache of arms and ammunition, besides explosives and hand grenades were recovered during the raid, the spokesperson added. However, identities of the slain terrorists could be ascertained so far.

On the other hand, CTD carried out an operation on the Muzaffargarh Road in Multan and arrested three terrorists of a banned organisation. According to CTD spokesman, the arrested terrorists were planning targeting a congregation of a religious party.

The CTD spokesman further informed that the arrested terrorists belonged to a banned outfit and were experts in manufacturing bombs and explosive material.
