ISLAMABAD - A sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee was informed on Thursday that as many as 45 government organizations including law enforcement agencies are defaulters of the Karachi Port Trust worth over Rs1.28 billion.

The sub-committee chaired by Shafqat Mehmood reviewed the audit objections of the Ministry of Ports and Shipping and the petroleum division for the year 2015-16.

PAC member Mian Abdul Manan said that it was hard to get the outstanding dues from the Pakistan International Airline and Wapda. Among the 45 organizations, they said, Wapda has to pay around Rs1 billion to the KPT.

Audit officials further informed the committee that the government organizations had been defaulters for one-decade.
