Lahore - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Ummah on the birthday of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In his message on Eid Miladun Nabi, the CM said: “Allah Almighty sent Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a blessing for all the worlds. The pious character and teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) cover the whole span of life of the human beings. He gave an exemplary socio-economic order to the world in a short period of time due to immaculate way of life and taught the golden principles of peace, harmony, brotherhood, respect for humanity, forgiveness and justice.”

He called for following the teachings of Islam to cope with challenges being faced by the Ummah. His message read: “The birthday of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gives the best opportunity to follow the teachings Islam. Sunnah teaches us find peaceful solution to problems.  We are grateful to Allah Almighty that He has blessed us to be the among the followers of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PHUH). We should reiterated our resolve to forge unity and work for a peaceful world. We should offer special prayers for prosperity, peace and harmony on the blissful occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi.”

Rural cleanliness project reviewed

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting here yesterday to review local government development package and progress on Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat Programme.

Addressing the meeting, the CM said that every village will be made neat and clean and added that this programme is a milestone for cleaning villages in the Punjab. “The rural population will enjoy neat and clean atmosphere around them due to this programme, he said, adding that special programme of one-time cleanliness of the villages was started.

He made it clear that third party audit will be compulsory with regard to implementation of this programme and said that any violation of the devised policy will not be tolerated.

He said that public money is a sacred trust of the people and it should be utilized in a very transparent manner. The process of one time cleanliness of the villages should be completed according to the schedule as it is the right of the people living in villages to enjoy a clean and healthy lifestyle.

The CM directed to install tracking system on tractors collecting solid waste and added that trees be planted after removing the garbage. While directing to constitute monitoring teams to review the progress of cleanliness in the villages, the Chief Minister said that these teams comprising of provincial ministers, secretaries and concerned officials should submit their reports after monitoring the system of cleanliness in the districts. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat Programme is a revolutionary step for the rural population and the ministers, secretaries and administrative officers have to work with full passion and commitment to make this programme a success. Punjab government has no dearth of resources and this programme has to be made successful as a national, religious and political obligation.
