“The madcap laughed at the man on the border
Hey ho, huff the Talbot”
Syd Barrett was one of the cofounders of Pink Floyd, the famous band that was at the forefront of the psychedelic rock movement that was pushing its way into popular culture during the 1960s. Barrett was the brains behind the unique sound of the band as well as its highly intelligent lyrics. Soon after finding fame, he also resorted to using LSD to produce more songs that seemed to come from the realm of the cosmos. As Pink Floyd gained more traction across the world, Barretts public presence became more unpredictable as he could not distinguish between hallucinations and reality. He would detune his guitar in the middle of performances, stare catatonically at TV-show hosts or would refuse to perform last minute. After recruiting David Gilmour, the band made an agreement with Barrett that had him working behind the scenes until finally in 1968, he was removed from the band altogether.
