LAHORE The leaders of JI, PPP, PML (Functional) and other parties hailing from Southern Punjab on Monday demanded immediate restoration of Bahawalpur province to ensure good governance in Punjab and announced public meeting and rally on March 23 to supplement their demand. JI Punjab President Dr Waseem Ahmed, PML (Functional) Punjab President Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood and others, after a meeting of the core committee of Bahawalpur Province Restoration Movement at JI City chapter office, said more administrative units were need of the hour in the Punjab for ensuring good governance. They said the JI would hold a rally in Bahawlpur on February 23 for supporting the demand of restoration of the province. PPP leaders Mian Usman, Daood Abbasi, Abdul Qadir Shaheen and Tabish Alwari, and JI leaders Zafar Jamal Baloch, Nazir Janjua, Abdul Jalil Hashmi, Malik Ilyas, and others participated in the meeting. The leaders said the Punjab government was selling the costly land in Bahawlpur to finance its own luxurious spending. They said population of the Punjab had reached 100 million and creation of new administrative division was a must to address masses problems in order to divide the resources in a transparent manner. The leaders of Bahawalpur Restoration Movement claimed that major development projects including universities, hospitals and industries were being built by ignoring all southern Punjabs needs.
