LAHORE (APP) - The Sessions Court on Monday extended the pre-arrest bail of Agriculture (Audit and Accounts) Water Management Wing Deputy Director Muhammad Tahir till February 7. The accused was involved in Rs 1.45 million cheque dishonour case. Additional District and Sessions Judge Sadiq Masood, while extending the bail, directed the Investigation Officer of Civil Line Police Station to appear before the court on the next date of hearing along with relevant record of the case. According to prosecution, the accused was allegedly involved in several other cases of same nature as he fraudulently obtained money from the complainant on the pretext of purchasing residential plot. However, even after lapse of seven years he neither purchased a plot nor returned the money and issued a bogus cheque of a dormant, non-operational account. Muhammad Tahir was earlier dismissed from service on corruption but he was reinstated later. He is facing serious charges of bouncing of millions of rupees cheques.
