MULTAN - The Multan Dry Port handled exports and imports worth over Rs24 billion during the last year (2010), generating Rs938 million revenue, disclosed Syed Muhammad Ahsan Shah, newly elected chairman of the dry port trust. Talking to the journalists here on Monday, he said that the dry port handled 7107 containers of exports worth Rs. 16 billion during the last year besides clearing 2207 containers of imports worth Rs. 8 billion. Resultantly, the government earned Rs. 938 million as duty or taxes, he added. He said that the dry port was facilitating the importers and exporters of Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan for the last 14 years. He said that the custom clearance facilities were available at Sher Shah and Muzaffargarh outlets of the dry port round the clock and they could benefit from this facility. He added that custom bonded warehouse was also available for the importers at Multan Dry Port.
