Lahore - The cement sale remained stagnant at around 18.8 million tons during the first seven months of the current fiscal year. As per provisional figures of the industry, the local dispatches in 7MFY14 are stagnant and stand at 14 million tons as compared to the same period last year. Further, exports are also likely to remain flat at 4.7 million tons. Alone in Jan 2014, dispatches remained at around 2.6 million tons as against 2.9 million tons in Dec 2013 showing a decline of 11%. Moreover, Cement sales have remained flat as compared to same month last year.
Local dispatches in Jan 2014 were around 2.08 million tons, showing a decline of 11 per cent as against Dec 2013 local dispatches of 2.3 million tons.
As per the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), total cement sales in December 2013 had stood at 2.95m tons as against 2.82m tons reported in the same last year, depicting a growth of 5%YoY. Local sales rose by 4%YoY and 9%MoM to 2.33m tons, which was the highest monthly sales figure so far in FY14.
 On the export front, despite limited demand from Afghanistan, exports rose by 8%YoY and 4%MoM.
