A high level security meeting was organised in Islamabad under the chair of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, DG ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar, National Security Advisor Lt. General (R) Nasser Khan Janjua and other senior civil and military officials.

According to Waqt News PM has been briefed about the operation against terrorism in North Waziristan. The search operation after Charasadda attack was also discussed in the meeting, sources revealed.

Furthermore the PM was told about the progress in investigation regarding the Bacha Khan University attack. The official messages and apprehensions regarding Afghanistan were also discussed by the participants. Several options regarding curbing cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan have also been discussed.

The progress in Pathankot attack investigation was also shared with the PM. “The aspects of Intelligence cooperation with India were evaluated by the civil and military leadership,” sources told Waqt News.

During the meeting the implementation of Nation Action Plan (NAP) also came under discussion. “Our resolve against terrorism and militancy is strong,” PM said during the meeting. “We highly appreciate the sacrifice of every individual in the war against terrorism. Right implementation of NAP will help Pakistan succeed against terrorists in real sense." he added. “Terrorists cannot instill fear in us. We will fight against them united as a nation."

At the very start of 2016 a new wave of terror has emerged in Pakistan, which had been kept under check during 2015. The civil and military leadership of the state are evaluating the options and policies to root out militancy from Pakistan.
