Police start confiscating POs’ properties

Police have started confiscating the properties of proclaimed offenders with the help of Revenue Department officials in Gujranwala Division, said Regional Police Officer (RPO) M Tahir.
Addressing a meeting of the senior police officials including DPOs, additional SPs, SPs and SDPOs, the RPO said that the police had launched the special campaign to arrest the dangerous criminals and to confiscate their properties. He said that during the campaign, the police had got confiscated 10 properties of proclaimed offenders (POs) in the region. Police also arrested 955 notorious proclaimed offenders during the month of January 2016, he added.
He said that the special directives have also been issued to the districts police officers in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts for ensuring the early confiscation of all the properties owned by the dangerous criminals and POs in this region.
He told newsmen that a special task of confiscation of criminals’ properties has also been given to the police officers in the region. He said that the police were also getting the services of local officials of the Revenue Department for getting the land revenue record of such properties.
He said that the confiscation of criminals’ properties had become vital to destabilise them economically and socially. He said that the police had also started contacting the Interpol for ensuring early arrest of notorious proclaimed offenders (POs), who had fled away abroad. They belong to Gujranwala Division and wanted by the police in dozens of cases of murder, murder during robbery/dacoity, kidnapping for ransom and other heinous-nature crimes.­
