Sh Rasheed eats his words on resignation

ISLAMABAD - In an utter humiliation, Chief of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed has finally backed out of his early announcement of resigning from the National Assembly seat.

After his appendicitis surgery, Sh Rasheed Wednesday landed in the Parliament House which he had cursed and vilified in a joint opposition parties rally in Lahore on Jan 17 organised by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek.

But as soon as he came out of his emotional trance, he deferred the decision taking the plea that the PTI chief had advised him to hold back his resignation for a few days. All his hopes of witnessing en masse resignation by PTI parliamentarians dashed down when the core committee of PTI decided against resignation from the parliament.

But still some people thought that Sh.Rasheed was delaying the decision till the end of January to avoid by-polls under the constitutional provision as the assemblies were also drawing to complete term in June.

Political analysts said that eating his words and pocketing insult is not new to the ‘Pindi boy’ as his political career was replete with such incidents where he backed out of the commitment he had made in public.

A PML-N leader from Rawalpindi said that when Nawaz Sharif was in exile he (Sheikh Rasheed) contested from both the Rawalpindi seats (NA-55 and NA-56) in 2002 general elections on the name of Nawaz Sharif and he used to say in his public gatherings that after winning both these seats he would place on the feet of Nawaz Sharif but when he won the seats he had wasted no time in backing out of his promise and joined the king’s party.

Similarly, even in past few years he had crisscrossed on a number of counts and in the end backed out of the stance taken earlier, he added. He had earned a lot of notoriety over his flawed and flopped political prophecies and deadlines and now even he himself had admitted it and on a number of occasions said that he is not an astrologer.
