LAHORE - Senior PML-N leaders on Sunday accused the incumbent government of doing political victimisation of the Opposition leaders and asked the civil servants to stay away from its vindictive actions against the politicians.
Addressing a joint Press conference at Model Town here, the PML-N leaders, Kh Saad Rafique, Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq and Atta Ullah Tarar also warned the Punjab Chief Secretary and the IGP of consequences for becoming part of the PTI government’s revengeful actions.
Kh Saad Rafique said that cowardly bureaucrats were working on the government’s agenda. “ You have become Imran Khan’s agent”, he said.
Referring to some honest officers, the PML-N leader said that their honesty was of no use when people were being persecuted under their nose. “Our job is to say and tell [the truth]. But this era [of oppression ] will not last long. When a ruler commits more atrocities, then understand that this lamp is about to be blown. Their fate will not be good either.”, he said, adding, that it was horrible to see the manner in which this government was misusing the institutions.
Commenting on the Transparency International report, Saad Rafique said it had blackened the face of the rulers.
“The accountability body has not recovered anything except telling the lies”, he said, and accused the anti-graft body of destroying people’s business.
He deplored that the list of occupation groups released by the government contained only the names of PML-N men. “Despite all these tactics, they could not break a single man of the PML-N. We are Nawaz Sharif’s allies. Nobody is shaken from their place. Someone has been harmed financially and someone has faced mental and physical torture”, he said, adding, that the goverbment will not be able to dismantle the Opposition.
“The PDM and the PML-N come in your dream day and night [to scare you]. How will you escape the wrath of God Almighty”, he remarked while addressing the Prime Minister.
What a new Pakistan they have created where bread has been taken away from the people”, he said.
He said he had seen four Martial Laws in this country but this government had proved to be the worst in terms of political victimisation.
Saad maintained that the government made the worst use of state institutions.
Former Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that for the first time, a government had stopped the National Assembly’s Standing Committee from working.
“The government is blocking the issue of Broadsheet from being discussed in the committee. In the past, Imran Khan used to wave the report of the same transparency [to tell the people how credible it was]”, he stated.
Ayyaz also asked the PM to give details of the crores of rupees spent on his Zaman Park residence.
Ayyaz declared that the PML-N will not allow any changes in the NAB laws. “We have already suffered to the maximum extent [because of NAB laws] and now it is their turn. Their thefts are visible”, he said.
The PML-N leader Ata Ullah Tarar alleged that Shahzad Akbar’s brother, Murad Akbar, tried to seize land in Rawalpindi when he alongwith government officers had an encounter with the nephew of Muhammad Mian Soomro. They were using government vehicles and resources to get control of the land, he further said, adding, that four senior officers had to be removed after this episode.
He said that Shahzad Akbar should also be held accountable. “It has been a year since the government had been unable to come clean on the conduct of Shahzad Akbar. We will not let him go”, he stated.
He said billions of rupees of the nation had been wasted on the government’s blind revenge.
He announced that the PML-N will prosecute the officers now acting on the whims of the government to harm its political opponents.
