ISLAMABAD - In an attempt to restore the confidence of foreign investors, Pakistan is working on a security plan to give protection to the foreign investors by raising special security force, Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan, Minister for Investments, said on Wednesday. He said that while holding a meeting with the Italian Ambassador Vinceno Prati Ambassador, who called on him here. The minister said that the government was attaching high priority to attract foreign investors and a new investment policy was also in the offing to offer incentives to local and foreign investors. He welcomed the interest shown by the Italian investors in Pakistan. Both the countries are enjoying diplomatic, cultural, trade and business relations and stressed upon the need to further strengthen the existing level of relations to benefit the people of the two countries, Senator Waqar maintained. He said that Pakistan offers a business and investment-friendly environment and welcomes the investors from Italy to benefit from the policies of the government of Pakistan. He said that the government and the private sector are eagerly waiting for the business delegations of Italy that will be arriving in the months of February and March 2009. The Minister for Investment briefed the Ambassador about the government's efforts to attract foreign investments and for the purpose new ministry has been established to remove the bottlenecks and act as a facilitator. He said that the government is addressing investors' concerns and Task Force on security as well as New Investment Policy ensuing continuity of policy are under way, which will give boost to investment and the economic activity. The Minister also asked the Ambassador to address Chamber of Commerce of Lahore on Saturday, which will provide a unique opportunity to further strengthen and increase business relations.
