ISLAMABAD (APP) - Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs, Shaukat Tarin said on Wednesday that Pakistan would get an amount of US $ 500 million from China by January 5, 2009 while World Bank would extend a similar amount to Pakistan during the next three months. He was talking to newsmen after attending the meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance here at Parliament House today. He said that the government would oppose further increase in the interest rates on loans, he remarked. He added that China would extend a financial support of $500m by Jan 5, which would help improve the balance of payment position of Pakistan. He further said that Pakistan would also get $500m from the WB during the next three months which would further improve the balance of payment position. He expressed the hope that govt prudent economic measures would help overcome the budget deficit and the revenue targets set for the current fiscal year would also be achieved. Our Monitorign Desk adds: Tarin, during the meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee for Finance, the govt will start taking positions in the stock market from the next week with the help of Rs20 billion market support fund.
