Capital sanitation system to be modernised: CDA

Islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to upgrade its sanitation directorate in line with modern techniques.
The purpose of up-gradation of sanitation directorate is to bring further improvement in sanitation system of the federal capital. This was decided in a meeting held here at CDA headquarters. It was decided that the dumping site for disposal of garbage would be shifted from its existing site at sector I-12, as CDA is starting development activities in this sector. The new site for dumping of garbage will be demarcated in Zone-II or Zone-V where natural compost dumping site would be established for proper disposal of garbage in line with latest and modern scientific techniques.
The new dumping site would be established in minimum space where garbage would be dumped.
To avoid the environmental pollution and other health hazard issues, the dumping site would not be open rather it would be proper landfill site to meet the requirements of this era.
The meeting also decided to complete the necessary repair/maintenance and painting work on existing skips within 20 days and its cleanliness on daily basis would also be ensured.
To ensure the attendance of sanitation workers, biometric system is being introduced. Under the biometric system, attendance of the supervisory staff and sanitation workers would be checked twice a day to overcome the absence of workers.
Two mechanical sweepers would also be added in the existing sanitation machinery to bring further improvement in the sanitation system. The CDA has already accorded approval for purchase of two hydraulic refuse packers (garbage compactors), two skips (large garbage containers) lifting vehicles and four tractor-towed mechanical sweepers.
Separately, the two-day 1st International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering, Management and sciences (ICETEMS-2014) organised by CDA concluded at Pak-China Friendship Centre.
