President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed the view that Pak-US trust deficit has been replaced with a sense of partnership. According to reports, the President made this observation during his meeting with (yet another) US team that has come visiting within a matter of days. US Air Force Chief of Staff, General Norton, also called on Mr Zardari at the Presidency in Islamabad early this week. The latest meeting apparently took place in the wake of US honouring its commitment, even though partially, of supplying a couple of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan which have since been inducted in the Pakistan Air Force. The trust deficit that President Zardari bridged at once in his statement, though, is so enormous and has built up so high over the years that one expects it to stand as it is, even after a few promises are delivered after all. It wont turn into a partnership of trust overnight. Besides, the US is still keeping on with the tiresome demands of 'do more and Pakistan is tiring out in the war on terror. -MASROOR AHMAD, Lahore, June 29.
