NANKANA SAHIB - A defendant in a murder case was on Thursday shot dead in lawyers chamber over old enmity. Akram, Fiaz, Irfan, residents of Thatha Esa, gunned down Rasheed Ahmed sitting in the chamber of advocates Rai Hayat Kharal and Malik Ali Ahmed Noul. The victim was to appear in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Mehboob Ahmed. Afterwards, the accused tried to flee away but the police followed them. Two of the accused jumped and crossed the Government Guru Nankak High School wall. The third one entered the DCO office and started aerial firing. Security personnel retaliated and finally arrested him inside the DCO complex. A few months ago, Mansha, a resident of Thatha Esa, was killed. Later, police investigation revealed that one Ashraf killed Mansha and the instrumental used in the murder was provided by Rasheed Ahmed, the victim. Thus, he was arrested but later granted bail. However, the DCO gave cash prizes of Rs 2000 to each security personnel and recommended appreciation letters for them. Also Bar President Haq Nawaz appreciated the police efforts to arrest the accused and demanded enhanced security in and around the district courts.
