Fire in a medicines warehouse of an international welfare organization here on Friday caused millions of rupees losses. According to police fire which erupted due to unknown reasons engulfed the warehouse used for storage of medicines and medical equipments located in Sector I-9/3 of the federal capital. The fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire building and smoke clouds were seen hovering over in the area. Fire tenders and rescue 1122 personnel upon getting the information of the incident reached the scene and started rescue operation. The fire was brought under control after two hours' hectic efforts but in the meantime medicines and other equipments in the warehouse were burnt to ashes. It should be mentioned that it was second incident of fire in the godown of international welfare organization. Earlier warehouse of another foreign organization was gutted in the sector I-9/2 on June 15. Sources feared that it was not accidental fire but some miscreants intentionally put the warehouse on fire as they feared that medicines from the warehouse might have been misappropriate and to hide the theft, it was deliberately set on fire.
