LAHORE - In order to provide decent work, it is essential that working conditions at work place should be free from health hazard and accidents whereas accident of coal miners and electricity workers in Pakistan are the highest in the world, says a press release. Despite price hike in the last financial year, the minimum wages and old age benefit pension had not been raised this year. These views were expressed by the various speakers in a two-day conference held under the auspices of Pakistan Workers Federation here at Bakhtiar Labour Hall. The speakers including Mehboob Ahmed representative of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary, Ch Talib Nawaz Presideent, Osama Tariq, Muhammad Wasif Dar Deputy General Secretary (UBL), Jalil Shah (KPT Karachi), Abdul Latif Nizamani (Hyderabad) and Muhammad Yaqub They demanded the Government to take immediate remedial steps to save the workers from exploitation and unemployment.
