MPA vows efforts to up education budget

Alf Ilaan arranges seminar on education

BAHAWALPUR  - Concrete efforts are needed to promote literacy rate and improve enrolment of children in schools to ensure education for all without any discrimination.
It is high time to enhance the annual budget for education and health with strict check for proper utilisation of the budget to get required results for better output.
This was stated by the speakers at a seminar on education which was arranged by a local NGO Alf Ilaan.
On the occasion, MPA Fouzia Ayub Qureshi assured to support campaign of the NGO for the improvement of educational conditions in the area as well as promotion of literacy rate in Bahawalpur. She said that efforts would be made to increase annual budget for education in the Punjab and pledged to take up the issue at the floor of the Punjab Assembly.
She said that she would meet the Education department officials for proper utilisation of development funds in all schools of the district.
On the occasion, Alf Ilaan District Coordinator Wajahat Ali disclosed that the educational conditions in Bahawalpur was on 35th position in 36 districts of the Punjab province for enrolment of children in schools while only 56 per cent children could move to schools for education while 45 per cent children could not attend schools due to many reasons.
Eminent social and political figure Malik Habibullah Bhutta was of the view that same educational facilities and same academic syllabus could bring changes in society if people wanted to get better results through education and to promote literacy rate.
Society for Democracy and Human Development President Hafeez Qaisar remarked that education was the base of success and development.
PPP District Secretary Information Saleem Bhatti, JI Nasarullah Khan and PTI Nazir Naji also addressed on the occasion and presented different proposals to get better results for the promotion of education and demanded strict check on the quality and standards of education.
