ISLAMABAD -The government is taking new initiatives to improve performance of Pakistan Railways and achieve tangible results besides regularly rationalizing tariff to increase revenue. According to Radio Pakistan quoting sources in Ministry of Railway that an integrated plan has been evolved to help manage to target right areas for improving service delivery, business processes and financials. Other initiatives include right mix of passenger and freight services as passenger service has been kept for time being, at 96 trains a day and most of the resources are being allocated to freight sector, which has produced encouraging results.
They said special attention is being paid towards repairing of existing locomotives as well as procurement of new ones.
The sources said the authorities have also substantially enhanced HSD Oil reserve from two to 12 days to streamline the train operation.
