LAHORE - The PPP has disliked the idea of contacting the political leaders by the Prime Minister through his Military Secretary to take them into confidence over military action in North Waziristan.
Prime Minister has started the process of inviting the political leadership and contacted PTI chief Imran Khan through his Military Secretary recently.
“Prime Minister should personally contact the political leaders of all spectrums, but not through the Military Secretary”, said PPP’s central Punjab President, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo in a statement, adding, that all political leaders were respectable known for their unwavering commitment to Pakistan and democracy.
While commenting on the reported initiative of the Prime Minister to meet the former President, Asif Ali Zardari, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the PPP Co-Chairman, being a mature and wise leader, would give him good piece of advice to overcome the current challenges to democracy and to evolve consensus on military operation in FATA.
While underscoring the importance of forging unity among the political leadership, he said that country needed such unity at a time when it was in a state of war against terrorists.
Wattoo said that the government should open dialogue with the political parties agitating for the acceptance of their demands with the spirit of accommodation and tolerance.
He observed that ironically the political leadership of the PML-N had been victim of its delayed actions in the past on important political issues which was tantamount to shooting one’s foot with own gun.
