LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehhaz Sharif has said the work on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is in full swing.

Talking to a delegation of Chinese journalists yesterday, the chief minister said Pakistan and China are bound in everlasting friendship.

Congratulating the Chinese government, leadership, people and journalists on 95th anniversary of Communist Party of China, Shehbaz said relations between Communist Party and the PML-N are growing.

He said that Chinese leadership has implemented its vision and made the country developed and prosperous that is why China has become the second economic power in the world today.

He said that Chinese leadership and the people have achieved a commendable place in the world through untiring hard work, struggle and uniqueness and now the world cannot even think to live without China.

The CM stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping has set a new direction by giving a vision of one ballot one road. “This is the vision of development, prosperity, peace, accommodation, tolerance and brotherhood.

“China has made great achievements through unprecedented struggle, which is role model for the entire world,” he added.

Referring to China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Punjab CM said that the CPEC is a ‘great gift’ by Chinese leadership and people and exemplary partnership has been made between both countries through this mega project which is moving forward speedily with every coming day.

“CPEC will not only change the course of history of Pakistan but the entire region and generations of Pakistan and China will not only benefit from CPEC but a huge population of the region will be benefitted.”

Referring to Lahore Orange Line, the CM said that China has made the whole investment for this project.

“China has also released second installment of funds for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project,” Shehbaz said while thanking the Chinese leadership and Exim Bank for providing funds for the project despite some “problems”.

Replying to questions of Chinese journalists, Shehbaz Sharif said that PML-N government is fully aware of the challenges coming in the way of CPEC. He said that some opponent elements do not want competition of CPEC but their designs will never be fulfilled. “CPEC will be completed by overcoming every hurdle.”

Chinese Consul General Yu Born, on the occasion, said that the goal of China and Pakistan is common. Chinese journalists congratulated Chief Minister on recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Separately, a delegation of China Aerospace Construction Corporation met CM Shehbaz Sharif and expressed their interest in investment in housing, water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment sectors.

Vice President of a Chinese company Dr Li Naihong told the CM that his company wanted to enhance cooperation with Punjab government in different sectors including housing, water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment.

Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the cooperation of Chinese company in housing, water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that new dimensions of economic relations are promoting between Pakistan and China. “The CPEC has created a large scale opportunities of investment for Chinese investors in Pakistan and various Chinese companies are coming to invest in different sectors in Pakistan,” he added.
