Zardari's party status challenged

KARACHI-Advocate Sohail Hameed on Saturday filed a petition in SHC challenging the status of Asif Ali Zardari as PPP Co-Chairman under Article Section 11 of the Political Parties Order 2002 and pleaded the court to restrain Asif for acting as Co-Chairman of PPP without holding intra-party elections. Advocate Sohail in his petition submitted that office of Co-Chairman of PPP is not hereditary office, moreover, the will of Benazir Bhutto has not been produced in court. He submitted that under such circumstances Asif Zardari is required to contest the intra-party elections as provided under Section 11 of the Political Parties order ,2002, to hold the office of Co-Chairman of PPP and to prove before the court, the signature of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her will. The petitioner also submitted that late Benazir Bhutto came into his dream and 'she was very angry with Asif Ali Zardari due to his connection to those global powers who were responsible for her assassination'. He submitted that two parallel govts were running in the country, one through the elected representatives and other who exercise so-called power as political heads. He submitted that global world is an expression to capture the resources of the world by G-8 countries and against the Islamic norms and any act of the leaders of Pakistan to become the part of globalisation would hurt the integrity and security of Pakistan. He pleaded the court to direct the CEC for holding intra-party elections in PPP under Section 11 of the Political Parties Order 2002, for the office of Co-Chairman of PPP as the will of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto has not been produced in the court and no order has been obtained from the court for proving the authenticity of the signature of Benazir Bhutto. He also pleaded the court to restrain Asif Zardari from acting as Co-Chairman of PPP. He pleaded to also restrain the leaders including President and Prime Minister from becoming part of global world because it is against the Islamic norms and Pakistan's ideology.
