LAHORE - Young Doctors have demanded raise in their pays equal to the increase given to Judiciary and Police employees in the upcoming budget. The government should announce a special pay package for doctors and raise the pay of house officer to Rs 35,000, MO/PG to Rs 80,000 and Senior Registrar to Rs 150,000, said a statement issued in this regard here on Monday. President Young Doctors Association (YDA) Dr Rana Sohail, General Secretary Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Qasim, Dr Aftab, Dr Abdullah, Dr Nabeel, Dr Waseem, Dr Qamar, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Aslam Rao, Dr Umer Shahbaz, Dr Wajid Wazir, Dr Qazi Yasir and Dr Sheraz Khan have further added that the pay of a medical officer is even less than the pay of police constable and this is leading to the brain drain from the country. They have demanded of the Chief Minister Punjab and Prime Minister of Pakistan that a special pay package should be announced for the doctors in the upcoming budget, the duty hours should be fixed at 8 hrs/day and security should be provided to on duty doctors.
