RAWALPINDI - President Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajran (MTT) Chaudhary Imran has said that the traders will not accept the Value Added Tax (VAT) and will agitate across the country if the Government implements VAT. He threatened to approach Supreme Court of Pakistan against the decision of the PPP-led govt. He was addressing Meet the Press at Press Club here on Monday. A large number of traders were also present on this occasion. He said that Government instead of burdening the traders and people under new taxes, should extend tax net. He said that consistent power shortage was the mother of all problems being faced by the traders today. He said that Government should utilise Thar Coal reservoirs to produce electricity. He said that Kala Bagh Dam, which has been shelved by the Government, should be constructed at once to cater the need of power. In spite of the fact that their businesses are going to be destroyed, the traders are extending their cooperation to the Government by closing their shops at 8:00 p.m. We always gave sacrifices in the national interest and will continue to give assistance to the Government in this regard, he added. Although there were two trade unions in the city yet unfortunately both were playing in the hands of political masters, Imran replied in response to a question.
