The police are not just a law enforcement agency, but in real terms, a public service organisation meant to help and rescue people caught in difficult situations.
A major portion of the law in Pakistan still follows British laws; the tinge of colonialism has remained in place to date. People are always complaining about the harsh attitude of policemen. Citizen police stations were created to bridge the gap between police and the citizens of the state, but apparently, no difference has come about by this step. At least according to my observation, police officials still possess the same attitude and are always trying to show off their powers. I even know a few men who have grown up with me, and now just because they are in the police, they try to bully people. This is a sad fact; presently, what we need is coherence among various segments of society. I hope the higher authorities start considering the importance of proper training and psychological screening to induct only those individuals who are fit for the service.
