LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said prosperity of the country depends upon prosperity of all the provinces, and a grave injustice was done to Punjab in the supply of sui gas due to which its economy had suffered a heavy loss. Lakhs of workers have been rendered jobless while export orders of billions of rupees are being cancelled. I have always raised my voice for the rights of industrialists and traders, he said, while talking to a 28-member delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry led by its president Senator Haji Ghulam Ali at the residence of Vice-President and Regional Chairman Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry Mian Tariq Shafi here on Monday. Senator Ishaq Dar, vice presidents of the federation and executive members from all over the country were also present on the occasion. The CM said the federal government had adopted an unjust attitude to Punjab in the supply of sui gas and decisions of the ECC had not been implemented. The Prime Minister had agreed to the supply of sui gas to Punjab five days a week, but this decision had also not been followed. We do not believe in parochialism, and want prosperity of all the provinces, and a uniform system for the supply of sui gas to the provinces should be evolved, he said, adding that the Punjab displayed its spirit of sacrifice in the approval of National Finance Commission Award and had played a key role in its unanimous approval. Punjab is the only province, which has contributed its share of Rs 11 billion in NFC Award and it is necessary that all issues should be resolved with the consultation and understanding of all the provinces, he added. Shahbaz Sharif averred that an unjust attitude had been adopted towards Punjab in sui gas supply which was leaving a negative impact on its economy. There was a need to talk about Pakistan without referring to Karachi, Lahore, Quetta or Peshawar, he said, while assuring the delegation of his all out cooperation for the solution of the issue of unjust load-shedding of sui gas. I am ready to raise voice on this issue and contact the Prime Minister or any other authority in future as well over the issue of load-shedding of sui gas, he reiterated. Haji Ghulam Ali, while thanking Shahbaz Sharif for addressing their concern, said the problems faced by industrial sector due to load-shedding of gas and power was unprecedented. He also commended the steps taken by the CM for the development of the province and the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims.
