Bar-bench role termed imperative for justice

BAHAWALPUR - Societies cannot live out and sustain without justice and only truth based verdicts can give impetus to and help keep the system of justice dispensation stay intact.
The judiciary and Lawyers are two components of one vehicle as powers of judiciary’s verdict are based on the support of the lawyers. Duty of Judiciary and lawyers is to dispense justice to the people and provide relief to them.
Lahore High court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial expressed the views while addressing the District Bar Association Bahawalpur here on Thursday.
The LHC CJ said that the lawyers and Judiciary should play pro-active role for provision of speedy justice by utilising all available resources for lasting peace and relief to the public.
He directed that judges should check files of pending cases after court timings on daily basis to accelerate the process of justice dispensation. He also directed special training courses for young lawyers. On the occasion, Justice Omer Ata also announced expansion, construction and book for the bar’s library.
Earlier, DBA President Malik Muhammad Khalid in his speech highlighted the difficulties being faced by the lawyers.
Couple tortured: In a brutal attack, armed men “mercilessly tortured” a man and broke her wife’s leg in Muhammad Musa Village, here the other day. Reportedly, Khursheed, a resident of Muhammad Musa Village, along with his wife Hanifan Bibi was present at his home when Zulifqar Gujjar, Mukhtar Ahmad and their accomplices equipped with axes and clubs barged in and attacked the couple.
As a result, Jan Muhammad was injured and her wife’s leg was broken.
The cause of the dispute is stated a minor issue.
Having registered a case, the police have started raids to apprehend the criminals.
