MOHMAND AGENCY - Militants blew up four boys’ schools at tehsil Safi of Mohmand Agency in the wee hours of Thursday. However, there was no loss of human lives in the incidents.

The locals said that it was around 2:30am when they heard huge blasts. Resultantly, four government schools - two primary and two middle schools - were destroyed completely at Qandaro village. They said explosives planted at these schools went up with a bang and the schools were destroyed completely.

No one was injured in the pre-dawn blasts as the schools were empty at that time. Officials of the Mohmand Agency’s education department said number of schools destroyed in similar explosions stood now 117.

Officials further said that it was the latest attack on government educational institutions in Mohmand Agency, adding that militants had planted locally-made explosives to dynamite the school buildings.

Our staff reporter from Orakzai Agency adds: At least 8 militants were killed and 12 other wounded in airstrikes on their hideouts in Orakzai Agency on Thursday.

Backed by ground troops, fighter planes targeted militants’ positions at Jandari Kall and Shah Wali Killi, situated at Mamonzai area, where militants are stated to be still strong.

At least eight militants were killed while 12 others injured in the strikes. Mamonzai is located near Khyber Agency. Sources said some three hideouts of the militants were also destroyed in the airstrikes.

The jet planes started hitting militants’ position at around 4:50 pm. Dozens of families, due to air raids in the area have started migrating to the safer places. Meanwhile, TTP’s spokesman while talking to the media on phone from undisclosed location said fighter planes had targeted empty houses, so there was no casuality.
