ISLAMABAD : Experts termed the Pak-Iran gas pipeline as vital for Pakistan national economy.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, the former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Najmuddin Sheikh said that Pakistan has no other option but to get gas from Iran to overcome its energy needs.

A prominent industrialist, Mirza Ikhtiar Beg said that supply of Iranian gas is very important for Pakistan as we are losing twoper cent

of the GDP due to the ongoing energy crisis.  He said the energy crisis has also increased unemployment and decrease in Pakistani exports.

An eminent Journalist, Shaukat Paracha said that there is acute shortage of power in Pakistan. There is a gap of seven thousand of MW electricity at peak hours during the summer season.
