Grasp all, lose all

Hats off to The Nation newspaper for its editorial entitled ‘Downright scandalous’ condemning the PPP for its shameful act of presenting the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University 2013 Bill in the National Assembly. The bill is aimed at replacing the Quaid-i-Azam’s name from the university with the name of Zulifkar Ali Bhutto. Although the opposition members stood on their benches and protested against the move, the bill was passed by the majority vote of PPP holding seats in the parliament. This clearly indicates to what extent the PPP leaders lack the spirit of patriotism and loyalty for Pakistan and respect for its founder Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
While the media at large has been dumb on the subject The Nation’s act of exposing our ruling clique’s stupid policy of raising its pair of demi-gods Bhutto and Bibi on a higher pedestal than the Quaid deserves appreciation. The manner in which the rulers have plunged the people of Pakistan into all sort of miseries during the last five years confirmed the fact that the PPP has no interest in the progress of Pakistan or the welfare of its people. As rulers they have always excelled in two spheres, looting the national exchequer and the projection of Bhutto and Bibi as Shaheed.
As for their craze for naming the country’s prestigious structure after Bhutto and Bibi, according to a list formulated by me from news reports they have so far named about sixty roads, building and big institutions after the two leaders during the present tenure. They could have continued with their ‘sacred campaign’ but not removed the Quaid’s name from the Medical University Islamabad if they had any respect for ‘Father of the nation’. It is a sheer act of madness especially on the part of ‘Jiala’ parliamentarians who passed this bill. It is high time that all those who support Peoples Party realize that while Quaid-i-Azam created Pakistan for us in 1947 it was Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who was instrumental in breaking it in 1971.
