Hearing of Gilani’s review plea on 6th

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court will take up on March 6 former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s review petition against the apex court’s ruling in the contempt case against him. The review petition had been filed on February 02,praying that his conviction be set aside and disqualification reviewed in the interest of justice. On 26 April last year, a seven-member bench found Mr Gilani guilty of contempt of court under Article 204 of the Constitution for not implementing its ruling in the case against National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). On June 19 he was disqualified for any public office for five years.
The former PM maintained in his petition that not writing the letter was an official act which he was bound to perform after a decision of the Cabinet.
