KARACHI - The Speaker Sindh Assembly on Thursday allotted opposition seats to 30 MPAs who submitted separate application for allotment of opposition seats in the provincial assembly.

The notification of separate seats for MQM MPAs has also been issued by the Assembly secretariat. The opposition seats were not allotted to the provincial ministers of the MQM as their resignations are still not accepted by the governor.

Though, the MQM while nominating Aamir Moin Pirzada had submitted the application with the signatures of 30 MPAs with the office of Speaker, urging him to notify Pirzada as leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly immediately. But the Speaker has not issued notification for opposition leader so far. However, it is expected that Speaker may issue notification of Amir Pirzada as leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly till next sitting of the Assembly on Monday.

After parting ways by MQM with the PPP government, the Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad had left the country and resigned from the post. But after few days and contacts at high level between both sides, on the appeal of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, the Governor Sindh arrived back in Karachi on early Thursday and resumed his duties as governor.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and others welcomed the governor’s resuming of the post and said that Dr Ishratul Ebad played role in bridging the gap between the PPP and MQM in the province. He also hoped that Dr Ishrat will sign the Sindh Jinnah University Bill which was passed by the Sindh Assembly on Thursday but MQM opposed it.

Meanwhile, the acceptance of resignations of MQM ministers is pending before Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad who will take decision in this regard.
