GUJRANWALA - RPO Muhammad Amin Vains said that protection of citizen’s lives and property is the prime responsibility of the police.

He advised police officials to open their heart and doors for the law abiding and peace loving citizens to win their trust and ensure community policing.

He was addressing a meeting held at Model Police Station Model Town here the other day.

CPO Abdur Razzaq Cheema, SSP RIB, CTO, DPO’s, SP’s, SDPO’s and SHO’s of the whole region were present on the occasion. He directed all the police personnel from constables to higher ranks to strengthen their professional spirit in order to create peace and harmony in the society.

“Police officials should respect every law binding citizen but there should be zero tolerance for criminals involved in extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and land-grabbing,” said the RPO.

He said that society only respects and pay tributes to the brave policemen who put their lives at stake to eliminate the criminals.

COP INJURED IN SHOOTOUT: A policeman sustained injuries in a shootout with criminals near village Lak in the remits of Jhal Chakkian Police.

Police received information that some outlaws including most wanted Zulfiquar alias Zulfi would go towards Jhawarian via village Lak in the early hours.

Following the tip-off, Jhal Chakian Police promptly established a make-shift picket at drainage near Lak Village. The police party on suspicion signaled a car arriving from Lak Village to stop but the occupiers of vehicle opened fire on police instated.

The police party retaliated and during crossfire a constable Muhammad Ejaz was injured whereas criminals succeeded to break the picket.

The Police party chased the vehicle, arrested one accused identified as Aamir, son of Muhammad Akram, a resident of village Kalra whereas his accomplices managed to escape.

The police seized the vehicle and launched raids for the arrest of the accused. Further investigations are underway.
